Public feedback on proposed fishing regs changes is encouraged

AUGUSTA – With more than 200 proposed changes to Maine’s current fishing regulations, the public is invited to provide feedback during upcoming public hearings across the state.

Locally, one of the public hearings will be held 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at Rangeley Lakes Regional School, 43 Mendolia Road.

Comments from the public are urged at these hearings on any of the 226 proposed changes to open-water and ice fishing regulations in Maine.

Any accepted changes would be enacted for the 2012-2013 fishing seasons.

The following is a complete listing of the public hearings, including dates and locations:
November 7, 2011 – Ramada Ellsworth, 215 High Street, Route 1 & 3, Ellsworth
November 8, 2011 – Brunswick High School, Multi-Purpose Room, 116 Maquoit Road, Brunswick

Anyone who is unable to attend one of the five hearings is still able to comment on any of the proposed rule changes in writing by mailing their comments to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, SHS 41, 284 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330. The deadline for receiving written comments is Nov. 21, 2011.
