Friday, July 19th thru Saturday, July 20th
Porter Lake Camp Out (New Vineyard) – A kayak excursion with an overnight campout on Porter Lake is being offered on Friday July 19th thru Saturday July 20th at 5:00pm by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Join us for a leisurely kayak on Porter Lake followed by an overnight camping experience where we will explore the island, paddle in nearby marshes and rope swing on the island! Food provided for dinner & breakfast. Must provide own tent and sleeping bag. The FRC has a small amount of camping equipment to rent if needed (please call if you have equipment needs). Meet at the FRC @ 4:45PM on July 19th. Open to ages 13 & older (under 13 allowed with preapproval and adult supervision). Program fee is $15 for UMF Students and FRC members, and $20 for non-members. Sunday, July 21st
Mountain Bike Single-track Ride (Sugarloaf Outdoor Center) – A mountain bike trip up to the single track trails around the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center is being offered on Sunday, July 21st by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Moderate to expert level mountain bike trails. Some single track riding experience necessary. Trek mountain bikes and helmets available for rent through Carrabassett Valley Bike at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. Helmets are required for all riders. Meet at the FRC @ 9:45AM, departure is at 10:00AM. Open to UMF students, faculty, staff, and the community. Minimum age of 13. The registration deadline is Thursday July 18th. Monday, July 22nd
Senior Activities – An opportunity for some activities geared towards our senior citizens is being offered on Monday July 22nd at 1:00pm by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Want to be active, but feel like the trips might be too much? Join us for our newest adventure, Senior Activities. Come into the FRC and join us for social games like Bocce Ball, Croquet, and Pickle Ball, just to name a few. Enjoy the time with friends and meet some local community members! Activities played between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Open to UMF students, faculty, staff, and the community. The registration deadline is Friday July 19th. Thursday, July 25th
Evening Flat Water Paddle (North Pond) – An evening flat water kayak trip on North Pond is being offered on Thursday July 25th at 5:30pm by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Get out on the water and leisurely explore a local lake by kayak. Appropriate for all ability levels. Bring your own kayak or rent one from the FRC for $5.00. Meet at the FRC @ 5:15PM. Open to UMF students, faculty, staff AND the community. This event is free if you bring your own kayak and or $5 for a Kayak Rental. Open to ages 13 & older (under 13 allowed with preapproval and adult supervision). The registration deadline is Tuesday July 23rd. Saturday, July 27th
Horseback Riding Trip – An opportunity to learn to ride horses is being offered on Saturday July 27th at 10:00am by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Are you interested in horses? Have you always wanted to try riding, but never had the chance? This is a great opportunity! Join us for a trip to Albertson’s Quarter Horse Farm and learn the basics on how to correctly groom, saddle, and ride a horse. Weather you have years of experience riding or none at all, grab your friends and sign up today! Open to ages 13 & older (under 13 allowed with preapproval and adult supervision). Wednesday, July 31st
Try Scuba – An opportunity to try scuba diving is being offered on Wednesday July 31st at 6:30pm by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Have you ever wanted to try Scuba Diving…now is your chance! The UMF Fitness and Recreation Center, in collaboration with Mainely Scuba, is offering a night for people to take part in a 3½ hour “Try Scuba” class. All equipment needed to dive is provided. Their professionally certified instructors will familiarize you with the scuba equipment, basic dive techniques, safety related to the sport, and get you diving in the pool. Mainely Scuba follows standards of Scuba School International. Should you decide to get certified, the fee of this program will be deducted from the scuba certification course. Open to ages 13 & older (under 13 allowed with preapproval and adult supervision). This event is $30 for all participants. The registration deadline is Monday July 29th. Thursday, August 1st
Intro to Canoe (Clearwater Lake) – An intro to canoeing clinic is being offered Thursday August 1st at 5:30pm by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Join FRC Director Jim Toner in this informal class/clinic that will provide hands-on instruction on the fundamentals of paddling a canoe. Participants will learn basic paddling strokes including the forward paddle, J-stroke, draw, sweep, and pry to appropriately maneuver a canoe. Canoes, paddles & PFD’s provided. Space is limited to 12. Meet at the FRC @ 5:15PM. Open to UMF students, faculty, staff AND the community. Free for UMF Students & FRC Members, $5 for non-members. Saturday, August 3rd
Trip to see Hope Elephants and Hike around Camden – An opportunity to visit a retired elephant sanctuary as well as enjoy some hiking around Camden Hills State Park is being offered Saturday August 3rd at 10:30am by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Join us for a visit Hope Elephants in Hope Maine. Hope Elephants has two retired circus elephants that live on a compound near Camden. After visiting with the elephants we will go to Camden Hills State Park and explore the parks trails as well as take in the views of Camden. Bring a lunch and your camera! Meet at the FRC @ 10:15AM. Open to UMF students, faculty, staff AND the community. Minimum age of 13 or if Under 13, allowed with preapproval and adult supervision. The registration deadline is Thursday August 1st. Sunday, August 4th
White Water Rafting Trip (Kennebec River) – A whitewater rafting trip on the Kennebec River is being offered on Sunday August 4th at 7:00am by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. We will spend about 4 hours on the Kennebec River covering about 12 miles. The river is rated as class 4 water with big waves…what fun!! The cost is $59 per person (a great rate) and due at the time of registration. Cost includes transportation, rafting and an awesome river lunch. Only 22 spaces are available on a first-come, first serve basis. Open to ages 8 & older (ages 8-13 must be accompanied by an adult). The registration deadline is Monday July 29th. Thursday, August 8th

Saturday, August 10th thru the 11th
Paddle to Grand Falls Hut and Campout – An opportunity to paddle to and campout near the newest hut of the Maine Huts and Trails, the Grand Falls Hut, is being offered Saturday August 10th thru the 11th, departing at 10:00am on the 10th, by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Join us for a trip to the most secluded hut of the Maine Huts and Trails, Grand Falls. We will paddle up the Dead River to see the hut and then return down river to a camp site for the night. A fun family trip with lots to see! Bring food as well as your camera! Tents are available for rent but you are encouraged to bring your own. We will be leaving Saturday, August 10th and returning the following Sunday the 11th. Meet at the FRC @ 9:45am. Open to UMF students, faculty, staff and the community. Androscoggin River Paddle – A river canoe and kayak trip is being offered on Saturday August 17th at 10:30am by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Get out on the water and leisurely explore a local River by Canoe/kayak. Regular eagle and wildlife sightings on this trip! Appropriate for all ability levels. Kayaks/canoes available for rent – Bring your own kayak/canoe if possible. Open to UMF students, faculty, staff AND the community. Minimum age of 13 or if Under 13, allowed with preapproval and adult supervision. This event is free if you bring your own kayak and it is $5 for a Kayak Rental. The registration deadline for this event is Wednesday August 14th by 5:00pm. Sunday, August 18th
Maine Rock Gym – An opportunity to try out rock climbing at the Maine Rock Gym is being offered on Sunday August 18th at 10:30am by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. If you have ever wanted to try rock climbing now is your chance! Join us for a trip to the Maine Rock Gym in Portland for a fun day of climbing. Open to all experience levels and interests. Fee includes 2 hours of climbing as well as all the gear needed to climb. Meet at the FRC @ 9:15PM. Open to UMF students, faculty, staff and the community. Minimum age of 13. Under 13 allowed with preapproval and adult supervision. The registration deadline for this event is Wednesday August 14th by 5:00pm.
