Hornets top UMF, 87-71

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – Lyndon State kept its North Atlantic Conference playoff hopes alive Friday with a hard-fought 87-71 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington at Stannard Gymnasium.

Brad Durr poured in a team-high 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Hornets while Ben Sackett and Cesar Martinez chipped in 18 and 17 points, respectively. Martinez also had five assists and six steals in the contest.

Jose Fortunato added tossed in 10 points off the bench for Lyndon, who upped its record to 10-13 overall and 5-8 in the NAC.

Eric Taylor scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Beavers, and teammate Josh Tanguay recorded a double-double of his own, tallying 17 points while collecting 11 rebounds. Eric Lelansky had 14 points for Farmington, who fell to 11-11 on the season overall and 9-4 in the NAC.

The Beavers travel to Johnson, Vt. tomorrow for a 2 p.m. matchup with Johnson State.
