Invitational ends in three-way eagle playoff

ORONO – The Husson University Invitational ended in dramatic fashion with three Husson Eagles tied for medalist at the 6,442 yard par 72 Penobscot Valley Country Club. The Eagles won the Husson Invitational with a score of 305, followed by University of Maine at Farmington (324), and University of Southern Maine (333). Mike Hersey (So., Presque Isle, ME) birdied on the first hole of a sudden death playoff to claim sole possession of medalist honors.

After 18 holes, Mike Hersey, Ben Estabrook (Sr., Bangor, ME), and Matt Loubier (So., Winslow, ME) finished tied for medalist with a score of 76. The trio was closely followed by Rich Matthews (Jr., Portland, ME) of University of Maine at Farmington and Eagle Kevin Byrne (Jr., Winslow, ME), both carding 77 on the day.
