Mt. Blue men’s Tennis Team Results
The Mt. Blue Men’s Tennis team gave a strong performance yesterday against a seasoned Brewer High School team, giving up three of five matches. Playing on indoor courts at the Bangor Tennis Club, the Mt. Blue men won two of three singles matches and lost two doubles matches.Scores were as follows:
Singles
Alvaro Vian (Mt.Blue) beat Evan Nadeau (Brewer) previously undefeated, 10-8
Matt St. John (Mt.Blue) defeated Nick Morris (Brewer), also previously undefeated, 10-6
Nick Wilkens (Mt. Blue) lost a hard fought match to Nate Morris (Brewer), 10-7
Doubles:
Greg Melcher and John Iams (Mt. Blue) lost to Ryan Nadeau and Bryan Carr (Brewer), 10-2
Nate Howard and Seth Wegner (Mt. Blue) lost to Alex Burgess and Jeremy Gray, 10-1
Mt. Blue is looking forward to the state doubles tournament on Saturday in Lewiston. Monday they take on arch rival Bangor High School on Mt. Blue’s home courts at 4:00 pm at Hippach Field in Farmington. At the end of the first half of only their second season in the league, the overall record for this young Mt. Blue team stands at 4 and 2.
