FARMINGTON – Amber Murphy (Manchester, NH) punched in a pass from Jennifer Richter (Lamoine, ME) 3:06 into overtime to propel the University of Maine at Farmington women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference play today.

The Beavers improved to 2-3 and are scheduled to visit Green Mountain College next Saturday. The Mariners slipped to 3-5 and are slated to host the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Wednesday.

Farmington goalkeeper Mckell Barnes (Durham, ME) needed to make one save in the game as the Beavers outshot the Mariners 17-1 in the contest, but the sophomore made it count as she fingertipped a shot by MMA’s Diana Manatt-Rogers (Conway, MA) off the crossbar in the opening half.

The Beavers also had opportunities in regulation with Chelsea Norton (Westbrook, ME) getting stoned twice by MMA keeper Lacey Jackson (York, PA) in the first 12 minutes and a header by Richter in the first 16 minutes drilling the post. Jackson finished with five saves
