WATERVILLE – Thomas College hosted the University of Maine at Farmington Sunday afternoon at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium in the annual Charlie Ryan Classic, which saw Thomas claim victory in the tightly contested North Atlantic Conference game with a final score of 74-65. The annual Thomas College vs. University of Maine at Farmington game is dedicated to Charlie P. Ryan (class of 1977), due to his contributions to basketball and Maine.

The contest proved to be a game of momentum, with both teams possessing respective leads in the game. Thomas would grab a thirteen point lead in the first half, only to see Farmington close out the final 6:00 on a 19-2 run, to claim a 37-33 lead at the break. In the second half, Farmington would hold a steady lead until the Terriers went on a 9-0 run to regain control of the game. The Terriers would push the lead to double digits again, before Farmington cut the deficit to just four points behind a 7-0 run in a 2:30 stretch late in the game. Made free throws and an offensive put back by the Terriers in the last :30 would seal the victory.

Thomas was led by Andrew Duncanson (SO, Portland, ME) who scored a game high 29 points, with 21 of those coming in the second half. Duncanson also led the team with eight rebounds, while adding three steals. Michael Burchill (SO, Saco, ME), Isaiah Brathwaite (SO, Farmington, ME), and Darrell Alexander (JR, Fairfield, TX) would all add in 11 points on the afternoon to help the Terriers claim the victory.

The Beavers were led by Josh Tanguay (JR, Gorham, ME) who scored 19 points to go with 12 rebounds. Pat Howell (SR, Nobleboro, ME) and Eric Lelansky (JR, Portland, ME) added in 14 and 13 points, respectively for Farmington.

The Beavers next contest also comes on Tuesday when they face Husson University in Bangor.
