FARMINGTON – The 2010 University of Maine at Farmington Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremonies are set for Saturday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. at the University’s North Dining Hall.
Registration is still available to attend the 2010 UMF Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremonies. The form is available at athletics.umf.maine.edu.
Hors D’Oeuvres: 6:00-6:30 p.m. Dinner: 6:30 p.m. Induction ceremonies following the dinner. This is a non-alcohol event.
The 2010 inductees include Mike Ridley ’92 (baseball/golf), Chris Bessey ’93 (men’s basketball/baseball), Debbie Gagnon Gendreau ’93 (women’s soccer/softball), Candice Berger Parent ’93 (women’s volleyball/women’s basketball/softball) and Peter Grosso ’95 (men’s soccer).
Ridley, who resides in West Baldwin, was a three-time captain of the baseball team, receiving All-NAIA District 5 recognition in 1990 and 1991 and visit to the NAIA National Championships with the golf team in 1988 and 1989.
Bessey, who resides in Jay, received all-conference distinction in men’s basketball and baseball and holds program career records in steals for basketball and stolen bases and triples in baseball.
Gendreau, who lives in Hampden, garnered All-NAIA District 5 First Team accolades in women’s soccer (1989, 1992) and softball (1991, 1992).
Parent, who resides in Oakland, was the NAIA District 5 Co-Player of the Year in 1992 and three-time conference honor recipient in women’s volleyball and reached the 1,000 career point milestone in women’s basketball.
Grosso, who resides in Westbrook, earned All-NAIA District 5 honors in each of his four seasons for the Beavers. In 1993, Grosso was the Fleet Bank Maine Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Year and was an USCAA All-American Honorable Mention honoree.
