FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team fell to Thomas College 8-0, 5-2 as the Terriers completed a regular-season sweep of the Beavers in North Atlantic Conference action at Hippach Field today.

The Beavers (4-12, 3-5) are scheduled to visit Castleton State College Thursday and Friday for a four-game set. Thomas (5-23, 4-8), which won a pair of games at Hippach last Wednesday, is scheduled to host the University of Southern Maine in a single game Thursday.

Thomas’ Chris Farrar (Sidney, ME) hurled a one-hitter in the opener. Farrar walked one, hit a batter and struck out three.

Jared Fieldsend (Somersworth, NH) singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the Terriers, while Kyle Gallant (Veazie, ME) stroked two singles and a double and Dana Leland (Alton, ME) slugged a solo home run. Half of Thomas’ runs were scored off Farmington errors.

Matt Judkins (Thomaston, ME) had the lone base hit off Farrar.

Bill Ridge (South Portland, ME) took the loss with 11 hits allowed, a hit batter and a strikeout over six innings of work. Will Griffiths (Mechanic Falls, ME) tossed an inning of relief with one walk.

In the second game, a defensive gem by leftfielder Tom Cameron (Jackson, ME) followed by a three-run fifth inning helped the Terriers grab a 5-2 victory.

Leading 2-1 in the fourth, the Beavers were threatening to pad the advantage with two on when Josh Garneau (South Portland, ME) slammed a drive to left field. Cameron hauled in the would-be home run at the fence to snuff out the rally. In the subsequent frame, Thomas scored three runs on five hits and an error to take a 4-2 lead.

Nick Schauwecker (Yarmouthport, MA) singled, doubled twice and drove in two runs for the Terriers, while Leland and Tom Desjardins (Fort Kent, ME) each smacked three singles. RBI hits by Schauwecker, Desjardins and Josh Nickerson (Stockton Springs, ME) highlighted the Terriers’ fifth.

Tyler Miles (Waldo, ME) earned the mound win with seven hits allowed, a walk, a hit batter and two strikeouts in four innings. Adam Gilbert (Farmington, ME) closed out the game with a scoreless three-inning save.

Phineas Peake (Penobscot, ME) and Kyle Shea (Bar Harbor, ME) each collected two singles for Farmington, while Tyler Hanson (Sanford, ME) slugged a solo home run.

Brian Morrison (Saco, ME) worked six innings with four strikeouts in the loss. Ryan DiPompo (Jay, ME) pitched the final frame
