UMF men’s soccer 8-5-2

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The University of Maine at Farmington men’s soccer team dispatched Newbury College 2-1 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Pine Manor College.

The Beavers improved to 8-5-2 with a North Atlantic Conference clash with Husson University Saturday in Bangor (women at 1 p.m., men to follow). The Nighthawks slipped to 4-11.

Cory Koop (North Pole, AK) and Hakim Kodi (Portland, ME) each scored a goal for the Beavers. Koop gave Farmington a 1-0 lead 7:48 when he scored off a rebound of a Dillon Clark (Old Town, ME) offering, while Kodi presented the Beavers with a needed insurance goal at 73:42 from Clevy Selengbe (St. Albans, VT).

Newbury tightened the game at 87:44 when Andi Maska scored off a pass by Hayato Iwahori, but the Beavers were able to hold on for the 2-1 win.

Erik Corcoran (Gorham, NH) registered two saves for Farmington, which held a 13-11 edge in shots.
