UMF skiers compete at nationals

WINTER PARK, Colo. -The University of Maine at Farmington men’s skiing team competed in a 15K freestyle race at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championships today at Devil’s Thumb Ranch.

The Beavers are scheduled to return to action Saturday with the slalom racing at 11:30 a.m. at Winter Park and the 3 x 5K relay at Devil’s Thumb. Live results can be found at www.live-timing.com for all of the national championship events.

Farmington placed 10th in the freestyle competition with 120 points. The University of Wyoming won the event with six points.

Pat Pozzetti (Portland, CT) was the Beavers’ top finisher in 42th place with a time of 1:01:21. Scott Hilton (Farmington, ME) and Corey White (Deerfield, NH) followed with times of 1:04:36 and 1:19:27, respectively. The finishes were personal bests for all three skiers for the distance.
