UMF volleyball falls in opener

FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington women’s volleyball team opened its season with a 3-0 loss (25-16, 25-20, 25-14) to Husson University Wednesday night at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Danielle O’Brien (Calais, ME) notched 10 kills for the Beavers, who are scheduled to compete Friday and Saturday at the Colby Invitational. Katie Allen (Bucksport, ME) dished out 17 assists with Jenna Rowan (Kittery, ME) and Caitlin Flaherty (Pembroke, MA) making 10 and nine digs, respectively.

Allison Chepke (North Jackson, OH) paced the Eagles – also opening their season – with 10 kills, seven digs and a pair of service aces, while Kaitlyn McKay (Lincoln, RI) supplied eight kills and Kary-Anne Cyr (Bristol, RI) made 16 digs.
