UMF women, men notch another conference win

POULTTNEY, VT – Despite a second half surge by Green Mountain College, the visiting Beavers
of Me.-Farmington held on for a 73-62 victory Friday evening. UMF shot 52.6% in the second half and 50.9% on the night and drilled 7 of 17 three-pointers.

The Beavers improve to (9-8) and a perfect (7-0) in conference play. With the loss, the Eagles fall to (8-7) on the season and (2-4) in NAC play.

UMF opened the game with a (12-5) run spanning 2:20 and never let up as they led by as many as 19 points before closing the half with a 16-point advantage (42-26).

The Eagles closed the gap to single digits (37-44) at the 15:23 mark of the second half, but could not come any closer the rest of the way.

A trio of UMF players reached double-digit points led by junior Caitlyn Laflin (Farmingdale, ME) who netted 22 on 9 for 17 shooting from the field. Senior Erin Porter (Bangor, ME) added 15 points and made 6 of 7 field goals while Samantha Wiley (Camden, ME) scored 10 points and recorded 3 assists
for the Beavers.

UMF travels to Castleton for the second of their two-weekend conference games tomorrow afternoon.

Green Mountain Drops Home Conference Contest

POULTNEY, VT Sophomore Eric Taylor (Oakland, ME) led all scorers with 34 points to pace
the visiting University of Maine Farmington Beavers to a road conference victory over the host Eagles of Green Mountain College Friday night (77-65).

The Eagles had no answer for Taylor who shot 14 for 22 from the floor and added 12 rebounds in the winning effort.

The game featured 8 lead changes, but the Beavers used a 69.6% shooting effort in the second half to pull away. Green Mountain trailed by three at the interval, (30-27), but could not get any closer shooting only 37.7% on the night.

UMF junior Josh Tanguay (Gorha, ME) joined Taylor with his own double double
scoring 21 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.

The Beavers improve to (7-9) on the season and (5-2) in conference play while the Eagles fall to (10-6) and (2-4).

Both teams return to action tomorrow with GMC hosting NAC opponent Thomas College and UMF traveling to Castleton. Tip-off for both games is set for 4 pm.
