WATERVILLE – The Thomas College Women’s Soccer Team was unable to keep early game momentum; and fell to University of Maine at Farmington 5-0, this afternoon at Alumni Field. Both Thomas Goal Keepers Kate Thibodeau (Woolwich, ME) and Allyssa Vitalone (Bingham, ME) saw a lot of action today as the Terriers got out shot 18 to 3.

The Terriers controlled the ball on their offensive end in the early parts of the game until UMF’s Katie Cray found the back of the net off of a Melanie Schanck assist. The Beavers found the net again when Kayla Tuttle scored off of a corner kick.

Thomas’s Thibodeau had three saves against six shots on goal in the first half.

At halftime UMF was up 2-0.

Despite a goalie change at the start of the second half the Terriers still struggled to stop UMF as Alida Peke scored off of Schanck’s second assist of the day. UMF went on to score two more goals in the contest; when Tuttle found the back of the net for the second time and Schanck put a goal of her own in.

Vitalone stopped five of the 12 shots on goal she saw in the second half.

Look for the Terriers to be back in action this Saturday as they host Husson University for a 1pm match up.
