UMF’s Busque receives NAC honor

FARMINGTON – University of Maine at Farmington sophomore guard Ashley Busque (Belgrade, ME) was honored by the North Atlantic Conference today as the NAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Busque helped the Beavers to a pair of NAC wins over the weekend. The sophomore scored all 16 of her points in the opening half in a 71-56 win over Castleton on Friday and followed with 17 points in a 58-54 victory over Green Mountain on Saturday. For the week, Busque made 11 of 17 shots from the field (.647), including four of five (.800) from 3-point range.

This is the first time this season that Busque has been recognized by the NAC. Last year, Busque was twice honored as the NAC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Busque is the second Beaver player to receive the award this season. Junior forward Caitlyn Laflin (Farmingdale, ME) has been honored by the NAC on three occasions.

The Beavers (12-10 overall, 10-2 in the NAC) are scheduled to host Colby College on Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
