Mitchell receives NAC rookie honors

FARMINGTON – University of Maine at Farmington freshman right side hitter Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, NH) was named the North Atlantic Conference Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference today.

Mitchell helped the Beavers in a 1-2 week. Mitchell collected 27 kills and 35 digs on the week, including a 12-kill, 13-dig effort in a 3-2 loss to St. Joseph’s.

Farmington (2-7) is scheduled to return to action Saturday when the Beavers play host to Green Mountain College and Castleton State College. Matches are slated for 10 a.m. and noon.

Tollefson earns NAC weekly honors

FARMINGTON – University of Maine at Farmington freshman forward James Tollefson (Middletown, RI) was honored as the North Atlantic Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference today.

Tollefson scored four goals in the Beavers’ 1-2 week. The freshman forward tallied two goals in a 3-0 NAC win over Green Mountain College and scored a pair to lead a comeback in a 3-2 NAC loss to Castleton State College.

Farmington is off until Oct. 8 when the Beavers are scheduled to travel to Colby College.

Deans named NAC Player of the Week

FARMINGTON – University of Maine at Farmington sophomore midfielder Emma Deans (Gorham, ME) was recognized as the North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week as announced by the conference today.

Deans led the Beavers to a 3-0 week, including a pair of NAC wins. Deans notched a hat trick in an 8-0 win over Thomas and scored the game-winner in a 1-0 victory vs. Lasell.

The Beavers (5-3) are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Colby College. The game is tabbed for a 6 p.m. start.

Barker honored by womensfieldhockey.com

FARMINGTON  — University of Maine at Farmington senior netminder Kaeleigh Barker (Chichester, NH) was named to the womensfieldhockey.com Division III Honor Roll as announced today.

Each week during the season, the womensfieldhockey.com staff searches the game stories to come up with a Rookie of the Week, a Player of-the Week and members of the Honor Roll.

 Barker helped the Beavers to a 3-0 week, including a pair of North Atlantic Conference wins. Barker did not allow a goal in victories over Thomas (8-0), Lasell (1-0) and Simmons (1-0).

 The Beavers (5-3) are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Colby College. The game is tabbed for a 6 p.m. start.
