UMF’s XC teams finish strong at NAC championship

JOHNSON, Vermont – The University of Maine at Farmington men’s team placed second in the 2016 North Atlantic Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship in the 8k race held on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Johnson State. The women’s team also had a strong performance placing place fourth overall in the 5k championship race.

UMF junior Robbie Hollis placed fourth with a time of 26:59.8. UMF sophomore Connor Wagner placed 10th and teammate freshman Abdi Hassan placed 11th to lead the men’s team to a runners-up title. The Colby-Sawyer Chargers claimed the overall championship title. Grandon Smith of Castleton was the men’s individual champion as he completed the course in 26:22.4.

The men’s 8k championship race included 101 total runners, representing 11 schools. For the full results, please click here.

On the women’s team, sophomore Hannah Emery was the first UMF runner to cross the finish line and placed 13th with a 23.24.6 time. Teammate junior Alisha Labbe took 15th place, which lead the women’s team to an overall fourth place finish at the championship.

Colby-Sawyer women earned its third consecutive NAC Cross Country title after finishing as the top team. Kaylyn Crompton of Castleton won the NAC individual title with a time of 21:02.5
