Opera and play auditions in Farmington

1 min read

FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Players, Farmington’s community theatre, have announced auditions for their January production, which will take place in the new Emery Community Arts Center.

The auditions are for The Little Sweep, a one-act opera by Benjamin Britten, and The Man in the Bowler Hat, a one-act comedy by A. A. Milne.

The Little Sweep needs singers, both adult and children, ages 8-16. The Milne play needs adult actors.
Auditions will be held on September 24 at 10-12, and September 25 at 1-3 at the Emery Center, on the UMF campus.

Singers should prepare a short song, and will be taught a simple selection from the opera. Accompanist will be provided. Actors do not need to prepare a monologue.

This will be the first fully-staged theatrical production in the performance space of the new Emery Center, which had its grand opening on September 7.

If you have questions, or cannot make the audition dates, contact one of the directors: Jane Parker at 778-0437 or Dale Hill at 639-5624.

  1. As a family who loves the stage and are long time fans and participants of SRP productions, we are disheartened at the small number of roles available in these shows (18 total). We hope that in future, community theater will provide more opportunity for community (and family) involvement.

  2. With three or more productions a year, SRP provides many varied opportunities for involvement. This sounds like lots of fun!
