FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce board of directors stood and applauded their new executive director, Stacie Bourassa at this morning’s meeting.

Stacie Bouassa

Bourassa, chosen from a field of 14 applicants, is replacing Lorna Dee Nichols of New Sharon, who served as the chamber’s director for five years before resigning last month. Over the past two years, Bourassa has served as the executive assistant at the United Way of the Tri-Valley Area.

“I’d like to welcome Stacie and I look forward to working with you,” said Ivan Gould, the Chamber’s board president. The board also welcomed the new assistant to the executive director, Marc Relford, a University of Maine at Farmington business major. Relford of Farmington, had been interning at the Chamber since February and was offered the job after the former assistant Michele Nichols resigned in tandem with her mother.

Scott Landry, the Chamber’s vice president, said Bourassa is a great fit for the position because of her experience working for the United Way. Bourassa of Mercer, said she is looking forward to starting her new job on June 6, though she said she will “be slipping in before then to get going.”

She’s grateful that “the United Way gave me the chance to work in the area of health and human service here,” she said, and sees her new job with the Chamber as a natural extension towards helping strengthen the county’s economic growth and prosperity. “I’ll take a page from Lorna’s book and look to the board’s vision for the direction they want to go and where I fit into their goals,” Bourassa said, “and I’ll have additional ideas to try.”

Of her new position, “This makes perfect sense,” she said smiling.
