FARMINGTON – The Farmington Farmers’ Union held its annual shareholders’ meeting today at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. About 20 shareholders and directors met to hear the annual report by Richard Walker, CPA. He reported that the Farmers’ Union continues to hold a strong financial position. Sales for the store and Just Ask Rental were up in 2011. Although sales were up, the cost of sales also was up resulting in a tighter bottom line than in 2010.

The Board of Directors recommended an 8 percent trade allowance on purchases by shareholders.

2012 is the 100th anniversary of the Farmers’ Union. Manager Larry Donald is planning a celebration this summer to honor this historic event. Plans are underway to set aside a day to celebrate with special prices and other celebration activities.

  1. Anyone remember the Farmers Union’s shareholders dinners? Maybe we should have a shareholders dinner again for the 100th anniversary. Those dinners were well attended.

  2. It would be nice to show some of the past Managers and crews. And how about going back in the days of off loading all the grain from the rail cars, by hand. From the rail cars to the truck, from the truck to the warehouse, and then back on the truck again and finally of loaded at the farms. Talk about handling costs and time.
