FARMINGTON – The chief of police has announced that the Farmington Police Department’s Employee of the Quarter is Officer Wayne Drake.
The department picks an employee to honor every three months. Chief Jack Peck, Jr. said that Drake, who graduated the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in May, had been selected for his “professionalism, compassion and dedication to [his] newly chosen career.”
Peck noted that, since graduating, Drake had been the first responder to both the murder of Grace Burton on Fairbanks Road and the fatal collision which claimed the life of 12-year-old Tess Meisel.
“While investigating these incidents you demonstrated an untiring work ethic, compassion and professionalism to the families involved, fellow officers and the general public,” Peck wrote in a letter to Drake, the typical method the department uses to announce which employee is being awarded.
“Your contributions to the department do not go unnoticed by myself or your peers and you are to be commended for your work,” Peck concluded. “You led by example and therefore, I wish to congratulate you as the Employee of the Quarter for the Summer of 2011.”
