Local photographer earns certification

WILTON – Stacey Damon of Damon Photography has earned the distinction of certified professional photographer after meeting rigorous requirements measuring her artistic and technical competence. Like certification for other professionals, this means that Damon’s creative work and technical knowledge are considered to be above industry standards.

The Professional Photographic Commission is the leading body for certifying imaging professionals. Certified Professional Photographers must complete a written examination, an image review, and adhere to a stringent code of conduct. Certification must be renewed on a periodic basis, ensuring continuing confidence in the professionalism of Certified Professional Photographers.

On a national level, only 3 percent of photographers are certified. While there are a number of photographers in Maine, only six that have submitted to the rigors of undergoing both the written examination and image review needed to receive their Certified Professional Photographer (CPP). Damon is one of those six. When looking for a photographer to handle your important event or memories, you should look for signs that the photographer is striving for excellence and not merely getting by with ordinary images. The CPP designation should give you confidence that the photographer has both the technical and visual understanding needed to create professional images.

With this new CPP title, Damon will continue to provide a range of professional photography services to the surrounding communities while advancing her knowledge through educational seminars, conferences, and print competition.

“I’m constantly learning new things and renewing my creativity, which directly benefits my clients because the constant exposure to new ideas is reflected in my work,” Damon said. Damon also currently serves as second vice-president of the Maine Professional Photographers Association.
