MADRID – Star Barn Uniques, Reeds Mill Road in Madrid, is hosting an Open House on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Uniques, housed in Star Barn B&B, is a gift shop selling exclusively Maine-made items, most of which are locally made.
The Open House will not only showcase our local crafters’ wares, but several of the vendors will be present working their craft. “This is not a craft fair per se,” explained Ginni Robie, shopkeeper. “Not all of our vendors are able to be present.” It is, however, an opportunity to see, and perhaps purchase, locally made items as well as meet the people who spend their days and nights creating lovely and useable merchandise.
All of the sale price goes directly to the craftsperson; Star Barn does not take a commission on any of the items sold. The no commission policy gives the Maine-only vendors the full benefit of their efforts. “We have over 40 vendors, but are always looking for new vendors, new merchandise,” Robie said.
