Pamper & Splurge Saturday on Ladies Day Out

3 mins read

FARMINGTON – If hunting’s not your thing, what’s a girl to do on a Saturday in November?

How about pampering yourself with chocolates, massage, manicure and showering  yourself with coupons, gifts, shopping, eating, entertainment and lots of fun?

That’s what the Farmington Downtown Association’s organizers have in mind on Saturday with Ladies Day Out. It’s a day for women to get together with their friends and family to splurge or prepare for the upcoming holiday season.

One of the organizers, Beth Beaudoin, is busy making up 150 goodie bags that will be filled with, well, goodies. The special day starts at 9 a.m. with the pickup of a goodie bag at the Homestead Bar & Bakery on Broadway.

The bag will be filled with coupons, fun gifts, a wish list to prepare and a handout that describes events held that day. The rest of the day is up to the ladies with the following events to be held in between shopping:

• Event check-in 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: The Homestead Bar & Bakery, 186 Broadway
• Free Chocolate Tasting 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: The Chocolate Shoppe/Richard’s Florist, 149 Main St.
• Free 5-10 minute massages 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Mooseville, 156 Main St.
• Mini-manicures 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Body, Mind, & Spirit, 186 Main Street, Suite 1
• Live entertainment 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: The Homestead Bar & Bakery, 186 Broadway
• Shopping & eating all day: Downtown Farmington Merchants on Front Street (including Divine Inspirations), Main Street, Broadway.

Beaudoin, who came up with the Ladies Day Out idea after seeing a similar event held in North Conway, N.H., said a dozen stores are participating in this inaugural Maine event. Many will have special sales and discounts. Reny’s is holding a raffle. Many will offer in-store refreshment. Downtown’s light poles will be decorated with turquoise and brown-colored ribbons to mark the occasion.

“I want to give all those hard-working women who may be alone during hunting season a fun day,” Beaudoin said. In terms of the number of businesses participating, “It’s one of the most successful events of the Farmington Downtown Association,” she added.

She and co-organizer Corey Ellis of Mooseville store fame, encourage groups to dress alike or creatively. The most creative group will win a prize.

“I’m excited about it. It will be a lot of fun,” Beaudoin said.
