State banking association elects Judkins chairman

SOUTH CASCO – At the 118th Annual Meeting of the Maine Bankers Association June 17 at Migis Lodge in South Casco, the member banks elected Peter L. Judkins, president and CEO of Franklin Savings Bank, as association chairman for the next year.

A Maine native, Judkins was employed by KeyBank after his graduation from the University of Maine and subsequently held sales and sales management positions with American Express and Citicorp before returning to Maine in 1999. He is a graduate of the National School of Banking at Fairfield University.

Judkins currently serves on the Board of Franklin Community Health Network; he is treasurer of The Greater Franklin Economic Development Corp, a member of the University of Maine at Farmington Board of Visitors, and a Director for the Ski Museum of Maine. He is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council and the ABA Government Relations Committee. He is a past member of the Federal Reserve’s Thrift Institution Advisory Council and past director of the Maine State Housing Authority.

Christopher W. Emmons, president of Gorham Savings Bank, was elected vice chairman of the association.

Elected to the Executive Committee were: Charles M. Petersen, president, Biddeford Savings Bank; Bradford C. Paige, president, Kennebunk Savings Bank; Allan L. Rancourt, president, Kennebec Federal Savings; Jon J. Prescott, president, Katahdin Trust Company; Lawrence A. Wold, Maine president, TD Bank; John C. Witherspoon, president, Skowhegan Savings Bank; Richard J. Vail, president, Mechanics Savings Bank; and Betsey Timm, president, Bank of America-Maine. James J. Conlon, president, Bangor Savings Bank, will serve on the committee as immediate past chairman.
