ZoomThe CEI Women’s Business Center and the Portland SCORE Chapter are collaborating to host FocusME, a series of peer groups for female entrepreneurs. FocusME is a series of facilitated peer groups that provide a supportive network of other female business owners; a place to work on personal and professional growth, a sense of accountability, and an opportunity to learn from your peers’ experiences and expertise. This winter we are offering four virtual cohorts. Please note that in order to ensure that both groups are filled with businesses that are non-competitive and in similar stages of growth the WBC will make
You’re Hired! Now What?
ZoomHow do I classify an employee? What’s the difference between an exempt and a non-exempt employee? What if I hire a teen worker? Can I ask my employee to work overtime? If finding a qualified employee is not hard enough, navigating labor laws may keep you up at night. In this informational workshop, presenters from the Bureau of Labor Standards at the Maine Department of Labor will walk through the common issues employers face and how to prevent labor law violations. There will be opportunities for Q&A’s. This program is a 2-hour session to better help business owners understand labor
