Western Maine Audubon invites the general public to its first free talk of the fall. The talk, titled “Loons,” will be presented by Dr. Mark Pokras, a well-known expert in loon studies. It will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14th at UMF’s Thomas Auditorium in Preble Hall. Dr. Pokras, a graduate of Cornell and Tufts University, will be speaking on new research findings concerning loons. These findings include new information about the behavior of loons, their reactions to environmental stress, and threats to their well-being. Dr. Pokras is a retired member of the faculty at Tufts. Public Take Out Supper – Harnden Masonic Hall

On Saturday, SEPTEMBER 17, 2022, there will be a Public Pickup /Takeout Supper at the Harland M. Harnden Masonic Building, 70 Bryant Road, East Wilton, Maine, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.  The menu will be Spaghetti & Meatballs with homemade sauce, Green Garden Salad with Italian Dressing, Yeast Dinner Roll and Homemade Swedish Apple Pie for dessert.  The price will be $9.00 for adults and $5.00 for those under 12.  Home deliveries are available in the Wilton and Farmington area for $10.00 per meal. Reservations by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 by 5:00 pm would be most appreciated. Reservations may be made

Maine’s Paper & Heritage Museum: Yard Sale and Model Train Display!

Maine's Paper and Heritage Museum will be open Saturday, September 24 from 10am to 2pm for tours and a special display of two model trains gifted to the museum.  A huge yard sale will also be held to help raise money to match a $20,000 Historic Preservation Grant recently received by the museum for building repairs.  Lunch of chili or meatballs from noon to 1pm.  Lunch and museum is by donation.  Can't make it Saturday? Museum is open anytime by appointment. Just call Greg at 897-3157.
