KINGFIELD – A hunter discovered the body of a 54-year-old man along Rapid Stream Road on Friday afternoon, according the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. Early reports indicate this is not considered a suspicious death.

Sheriff’s deputies Nathan Reid and Nathan Bean responded to a call at 3 p.m. Friday and found the body of Noel “Nick” Philbrick, 54, of Kingfield. Philbrick, found dressed in a fluorescent orange vest and cap, was not believed to have been out hunting. Instead, officers said, he left home in the late morning hours on Friday for a walk along the lightly traveled Rapid Stream Road, which is an extension of the West Kingfield Road.

The state medical examiner’s office confirmed an examination had been performed today with the findings available in a few weeks.

Mr. Philbrick’s obituary can be read here.
