CARRABASSETT VALLEY – A head-on collision on Route 27 destroyed two vehicles Sunday morning, while both drivers and an occupant were able to walk away from the scene.

According to Carrabassett Valley Police Department Chief Scott Nichols, at 10 a.m. Sunday, a 2004 black Subaru was proceeding north on Route 27, south of the Redington Road entrance. The operator, John Bohorquez, 20, of Brooklyn, N.Y., lost control of his vehicle on the sharp curves of the road, known locally as the “S turns.” His Subaru spun across the road, striking a southbound 2005 silver GMC pickup truck.

The Subrau struck the pickup truck, operated by Jeffrey Davis, 46,of Gray, head on. Davis and his passenger, daughter Michaela Davis, 20, were evaluated at the scene, as was Bohorquez, by NorthStar Ambulance Service personnel. Neither was transported.

Carrabassett fire and police departments responded, clearing the scene with wreckers from New Portland and New Vineyard. Officer Jordan Norton was the investigating officer, assisted by parking enforcement officer Scott Nichols, Jr. and CVFD Chief Courtney Knapp, as well as several firefighters.

At the this time, police believe that speed and driver inexperience caused the accident. No charges have been filed.

  1. I don’t understand the title of one person. “Carrabassett Valley Police Department Chief Scott Nichols” and/or “parking enforcement officer Scott Nichols” Does Mr. Nichols have both titles or one? If one, which one? [Am I missing something here?]

  2. Peg, I think you missed the (Jr ) in officer Nichols name. I suspect Chief Nichols has a son woking for him.
