Paula McPherson, at center, and her daughter, Lauryn Wyman, who both teach dance at Farmington’s Broadway Academy of Dance, receive thanks from their students at the 20th anniversary performance held over the weekend.

OAKLAND – Farmington’s Broadway Academy of Dance celebrated its 20th anniversary with a recital over the weekend that featured the studio’s greatest hits of the past years.

The dance studio’s owner, Paula McPherson and her daughter Lauryn Wyman, teach dance to nearly 200 students. The performances on Saturday and Sunday were moved to Messalonskee High School Performing Arts Center in Oakland from Mt Blue High School in 2009 to accommodate the growing audience.

Before the grand finale, dance alumni joined McPherson in performing a dance routine to celebrate the 20th anniversary. In all, 39 dance numbers were performed by students ranging in age from 4 to mid-70s.

“I feel Incredible, this was an awesome show” McPherson said about the performances of her students and added, “It doesn’t feel like 20 years, it was just yesterday.”
