1 min read

FARMINGTON – Find out how our local candidates stand on the issues important to you by attending a debate to be held 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at the University of Maine at Farmington’s Lincoln Auditorium in the Roberts Learning Center.

House District 89 candidates Yvette Robinson and Lance Harvell will debate the issues 7 p.m. on Oct. 20 at UMF Roberts Learning Center.

The debate, sponsored by the Daily Bulldog in a partnership with Mt. Blue TV, will feature House District 89 candidates Lance Harvell, a Republican from Farmington and Yvette Robinson, a Democrat from Farmington. House District 89 includes the towns of Farmington and Industry.

Woody Hanstein will serve as moderator for the debate. In a good old fashion debate format, each candidate will be given equal time for opening and closing statements and to respond to questions taken from the moderator, the audience (from cards collected at the start and read by the moderator) and each other.

If you would like to submit a question for the candidates ahead of time, email us at editor@dailybulldog.com.

  1. Is this the debate that Haszco wrote a week ago wasnt taking place?Incredible how one man can get everything wrong about a variety of issues every single time.A perfect record.

  2. “A perfect record?”
Now hozhed, everyone knows that the only person with a perfect record is steve whittier.
Hmmm… I wonder why we haven’t seen him posting on here lately.

  3. Goo, yep, your partner has a perfect record, hasnt missed his foot once so far. Whittier is alive and well as you know, but all these calls from angry liberals……….scary. Still waiting for some mail and my b-day prez goo………Good luck at the debate Lance. I have no doubt you will do very well.

  4. I can see it now. A debate at a liberal school with questions from the audience. “Miss Robinson, What do you think of the weather? Mr Harvell, Why did you cut funding for the children?

  5. Okay, hozhed – that was utterly incomprehensible.
Am I, in spite of my normally being able to decipher your pearls of wisdom, surprised? No.

  6. Politicians can’t creat jobs. Private citizens with initiative creat jobs. The elected folks can help by supporting less government. Politicians who try to create jobs thru government actually kill jobs. Instead of voting for the candidate who will create jobs, vote against the one who will kill jobs.

  7. Goo , you have more surprises coming. Some in November, some after. It makes life fun.. Don’t run off tho. we need the tag team of goo and Haszco. One makes rediculous and embarrasing statements, and you goo, the dogs self appointed english teacher, correcting spelling and punctuation and otherwise telling anyone thats conservative and has an opinion they are stupid. This should be a great debate, cant wait to watch it.Everyone who can go should. It would be nice to see you both there goo, bring treats!!

  8. I’ll vote for the one that realizes government does not create jobs, but needs to foster an environment that allows for private job creation.

  9. jim: there was a debate like this the last time lance ran, against dennis hazsko. it occurred in exactly the same place and mr. hanstein served as the moderator. i don’t remember any unfair or irrelevant questions being asked, heckling was minimal, and despite being visibly grumpy, lance shined anyway.

  10. Jim, there are a lot of Lance Harvell supporters on campus here, but I suppose making convenient assumptions to put forward a baseless claim of potential bias requires a lot less effort to make, right?

Besides, how many college students do you think will actually attend? Besides the college D’s and R’s, I’m willing to bet not a whole lot.

  11. i spent years attempting to organize student activists and i can safely assume that geoff’s evaluation of student turnout is probably accurate. if there is no free pizza and nobody is talking about sex, chances are most umf students will be watching mtv instead.

  12. Steve, I mean hozhed, I only started ragging on your “English” after you ragged on the English of someone who didn’t agree with you (not including, of course, your punctuational habits, which are so “rediculous” that they are beyond the realm of English).

And my “telling anyone thats conservative and has an opinion they are stupid” – a charming combination of hyperbole and falsehood, btw, since I’ve only messed with you, frostpoof, reid, and frary – is a direct reflection of your telling anyone who’s a dirty librul elitist and who has an opinion that they are stupid. Once again, you can’t take what you dish out to others.

The main difference is that you leave a smelly trail of delusional logorrhea after every single article, letter, etc. that gives you even the flimsiest excuse to bore us with the base instincts so clumsily camouflaged as ideology.

Although I suppose I shouldn’t condemn your wasting of everyone’s time (especially your own) with your compulsive need to visit every fire hydrant on the sidewalk. Maybe I’d do the same thing… if I didn’t have a life outside of this website.

  13. Too funny goo……I musta hit a nerve, btw, whats this “us” thing? You talking about you and “hipshot Haszco”?
And, your telling everyone here you are a “dirty librul ELITIST”? …..we have a Egosaurus Rex here people….cool. And all this time I just thought you were just a compulsive grammer corrector.

  14. : “stantheman staziac” doesnt say much, but has a cool pen name. Wasnt he the heart puncher or the chair thrower?

  15. Too funny steve whittier……………….. Yeah, you always manage to hit the nerve on my humerus. Btw, this “us” thing refers to sane people. If Haszko is sane, then yes: he is part of “us.” If he’s not, then he isn’t.

And no, I wouldn’t tell everyone here I’m dirty, a librul, or an elitist, because I’m actually none of the above. I just enjoy deflating the egos of certain maniacs – who are, interestingly, all id – by showing them that not only have they got no reason to be so proud of their juvenile scribblings, opinions, etc., but also that they’re really just embarrassing themselves. Someday……. maybe…….. you’ll understand.

And although I’m always glad to correct your “grammer” (sic), your spelling and punctuation……………. are your most glaring weak points………….. as long as we’re only talking about stylistic matters, that is………………………….

  16. Getting wordy goo, an automatic response to tail tucking, which means I am bored.See you at the debate.

  17. Once again, your post makes no sense on a syntactical level. (The fact that they don’t ever make sense on certain other levels is obvious.)

    You’re bored? You’re beaten.
