  1. Thank you, Jane!! It is so wonderful to see a photographer and philosopher who has such a positive attitude about winter. I loved all the seasons when I lived in Maine. As a kid I played outside at least as long in winter as I did in the summer. As you shoy us with every entry, there is so much to discover and enjoy about about winter just as there is in spring, summer and fall!
Thank you for my smiles today!! ..and my longing heart!!

  2. oh my goodness…. beautiful pictures… you must have one heck of a photo album. Love the squirrel!!!

  3. Bulldog is very fortunate to have Jane as a contributor! (And all of us readers too!)

    Great pictures as usual.

Love the squrrils and your comments.

Jane would make a fortune with a publisher of coffee table books!

  4. Thanks also from me,,,,
I have always appreciated some of the beautiful things winter brings,,
To see these captured in these nice photos is a treat indeed..

Dont get Frostbite on your shutter finger !!!!!!

  5. Thanks everyone.

    Jim,

I’m trying to get the loon book published. Working on editing 1700 pix which all went back to original versions when I overloaded my computer with too many photos. My sweet husband bought me a new one with enough memory and space for 200,000 pix.

You’d think as a published author that it would be easy to be published whenever we send in something, but photo books are one of the most difficult types to get published because of the cost to the publisher. If anyone has a connection to a photo book publisher, have them call me. 293-2062. They can come over for coffee or tea, or perhaps go out on the ice with me or in my kayak with 30 MPH winds. It’s so much fun.

And JIm, if you want to go on a moose photo shoot call me. I”m even willing to go in the dark of morning.

PS: The poor squirrel didn’t fall thanks to his VERY sharp claws. But what a face!

  6. Jane – Love that nuthatch photo. That should definitely be on the cover of Birds & Blooms magazine. Can you share what kind of DSL Camera you use? I’ve heard the Nikon D90s are great and I’m saving my pennies. Any advice? Thanks!

  7. I like the squirrel face very much! Imagine what he’d be like if he weighed 500 pounds AND DIDN’T LIKE PEOPLE.

  8. Thanks again for the wonderful pics! They make me smile! :)
They are such a welcome relief from the often unpleasant news of the day.
