FARMINGTON – A couple returning from a wedding reception late Saturday night were killed after the pickup truck they were riding in ran off the road at a curve, struck a tree stump, rolled over and ejected both people.

Killed in the crash were Frankie Gragg, 24 of Industry, and Kateleen Roberts, 21, also of Industry.

Spectators returning from the Industry fireworks show Saturday night discovered the crash where Mosher Hill Road meets Ramsdell Road and called police at 11:40 p.m. Arriving on the scene, police found both people dead, said Lt. Jack Peck of the Farmington Police Department.

“It has been determined through preliminary investigation that Gragg had been operating southeast on the Ramsdell Road and lost control at the intersection of Mosher Hill Road. The vehicle, a 1980 Chevrolet pick-up left the roadway, striking a tree stump causing it to roll on its side and ejecting both occupants.” Peck said. Neither was wearing a seat belt, he added.

Police say excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.  Blood tests to determine a blood alcohol levels were taken and will be sent to the Maine Health and Environmental Testing Lab in Augusta for analysis.

Sgt. Shane Cote of the Farmington Police Department is the primary investigating officer.  Sgt. Cote was assisted at the scene by deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and a trooper from the Maine State Police. Also assisting at the scene were members of the Farmington Fire Rescue Department, NorthStar EMS and Bryan’s Autobody.

  2. Kateleen ( & her family) are very dear & good friends of mine . I spent a lot of time with she & her beautiful daughter since she lived a few driveways up. I keep expecting a phone call saying she is coming over…………….but there isn’t one. It is so sad that such a wonderful woman and loving mother had to leave us so soon. They will be missed incredibly. Each & every day.

  3. I am angry still – it’s a part of grief. I will miss you both. You were a bright spots in the world, generally happy and generous beyond the pale. Your friends and family will take the time to remember you both. Your daughter is going to be just fine. You will, again, be missed.

“Fear not when, fear not why. Fear not much while we’re alive.
Life is for living, not living up tight. See ya somewhere up in the sky.
Fear not die, I’ll be alive for a million years.
I’m forever young, my name shall survive”

  7. I never do these types of comments but here goes. I have worked with Kateleen for over 3 years. She was a amazing, friendly, always smiling girl. She was a ton of fun to be with and she loved motherhood and her daughter more than the world. She was a great practical joker and loved making people laugh. The world is a little dimmer without her in it. This is such a tragedy for everyone.

  8. “The Broken Chain”

I little knew that morning God was going to call your name,
In life I loved you dearly, in death I do the same.
It broke my heart to lose you, you did not go alone,
for part of me went with you, the day God called you home.
You left me beautiful memories, your love is still my guide,
and though we cannot see you, you’re always at my side.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

To Lee, my nephew, & Kateleen, my friend,
I love and miss you both with all my heart. You will never be forgotten and your legacies will live on in the beautiful children you created. You were both wonderful parents and through memories and stories and pictures, your children will know that. Each and every day you will be thought of. I am going to miss you dearly….I love you always…
