FARMINGTON – The girls cross country team made Mt. Blue High School history on Saturday when they qualified as a team for the 75th New England Cross Country Championship Meet to be held this Saturday, Nov. 14 at Wickham Park, Manchester, Conn.

The girls team placed third overall in Class A at the State Championship Meet held at Twin Brook Recreation Area in Cumberland on Saturday, Nov. 7 and finished as the fourth best team (all classes).

In the girls 5k race, senior Melody Lam led the team for Mt. Blue, placing 9th overall, averaging 6:22.4 per mile for a 19:47 finish; sophomore Addie Cullenberg, placed 24th with 6:48.3 average mile for a 21:08 finish; junior Gwen Beacham placed 25th, 6:48.3 average per mile for a 21:08 finish; sophomore Louisa Stancioff, placed 36th, with a 7:00.8 average per mile for a 21:47 finish; junior Shelby Aseltine, 43rd, with a 7:05.6 average per mile for a 22:02 finish; freshman Amy Hilton, placed 78th, with 7:40.2 average per mile for a 23:49 finish.

Mt. Blue senior Kelton Cullenberg, at right, also qualified at New England’s as an individual with 4th place overall race at State’s with a 5:14.1 average mile for a 16:15 finish. The boy’s team finished the state meet in 11th place.


At the start of the girls Class A 5K State Meet held on Saturday, Nov. 7, Mt. Blue senior, Melody Lam (#235) is a front runner. Mt. Blue High School Cross Country Girls Team are going on to the New England Championship Saturday for the first time.
