Although blue jays ARE “blue birds”, there’s a big difference between jays and bluebirds.

Exceptional photos … I don’t know how you get in the right place at the right time. We are enjoying a BIG flock of Flickers at our home lately. They are very colorful.
I never thought about a hawk attacking a bluejay. Did it kill it? They are good sized birds. Great timing on the photo.
Karen, the hawk was last seen carrying the bluejay into the brush. The bluejay was alive and screaming but the hawk had him in a death grip.
