WILTON – A local legislator and a Livermore man who is a police officer, received minor injures following a crash at the intersection of Route 133 and McCrillis Corner Road at 6 this morning.

Police said District 18 Senator-elect Thomas Saviello, 60, of Wilton, was crossing the intersection of Route 133 from McCrillis Corner Road when his small Ford pick-up truck collided with a white Chevy van driven by Adam Sage, 30, of Livermore. Sage, a part-time police officer with the Livermore Falls Police Department, was traveling east on Route 133 when the vehicles crashed in the middle of the intersection, said Det. Rick Billian of the Wilton Police Department.

“Saviello’s vehicle rolled over and went into a marsh. Sage’s vehicle came to rest in the roadway,” the officer said. On arrival, police and the Wilton Fire & Rescue Department “found substantial damage to both vehicles involved, however minor injuries to the persons involved.”

Both men were transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar EMS ambulance crews. A hospital spokeswoman said both men had been “treated and released” as of 10 a.m.

Speed and alcohol are not factors in this crash, Billian noted. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. The crash still remains under investigation by the Wilton Police Department. “At this point I do not anticipate any charges,” he added.

Saviello, a Wilton selectman, was elected on Nov. 2 to the Senate District 18 seat after serving eight years as the District 90 state representative.

Sage, a part-time police officer was scheduled to work a shift today and reported for duty after his release from the hospital. A town official said they sent him home to rest.
