Lemonade stand proceeds benefit animal shelter

1 min read

Lexi Lloyd and Caryn True, both of Jay, were able to purchase $180 worth of supplies to give to the Franklin County Animal Shelter. They raised the money by selling lemonade at a stand.

JAY – Two friends decided to make use of their summer vacation to help some four-footed friends in need.

Sixth-grade students Lexi Lloyd and Caryn True ran a lemonade stand this summer and raised a whopping $180 for the Franklin County Animal Shelter.

The money raised was used to purchase pet care and cleaning supplies for the shelter. Lexi’s dad, Peter Lloyd went shopping with the girls, where they picked out food, kitty litter, litter boxes, food bowls and cleaning supplies. The items are all on the shelter’s wish list for the animals.

The girls said their lemonade stand benefit was especially successful after one person gave a donation of $100 toward their cause.

Lexi Lloyd of Jay is the daughter of Peter and Kristal Lloyd; Cary True is the daughter of Stacey Harris, also of Jay.

The Franklin County Animal Shelter on Route 43 in Farmington is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is accepting adoption applications for numerous cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. Pet care volunteers are welcome to help and are required to fill out an application. Call the shelter at 778-2638 for more information.

  1. Great job Lexi and Caryn. You both have done a great thing for all the animals in the shelter that need our help.I hope this inspires other kids to follow in your footsteps. We all hope the economy is beginning to turn around and maybe there will not be as many animals that are winding up in shelters as in the last year.
Thanks for all you have done!
