STRONG – State Police say a man from Strong was killed early Monday morning in a motorcycle crash near his home.

The crash was discovered Monday evening after relatives began searching for 47-year-old Carl Chadbourne, who had not returned home. Trooper Scott Stevens reported that Chadbourne’s body was found with his Harley-Davidson motorcycle between 5 and 5:30 p.m. today by relatives, in woods off Route 145, north of the Strong village.

Stevens said Chadbourne lost control of the motorcycle on a curve and it crashed into woods, down an embankment and into a small stream. The body and the motorcycle were located about 40 feet from the road.

Chadbourne was last seen on his motorcycle along Route 145 about 2:45 a.m. Relatives began looking for him today and the wreckage was found by a brother. Chadbourne was not wearing a helmet. The
crash took place about two miles from his home.

  1. I worked with Carl for a summer at the Verso paper mill. He was quite a character. My condolences to his family.
