Mt. Abram has a new principal

1 min read

SALEM – A familiar face has been appointed as the new principal at Mt. Abram High School.

MSAD 58’s school board appointed Kingfield Elementary School Principal Brenda Stevens to be principal at the high school during meeting held Friday night. Stevens will take over for award-winning principal, Jeanne Tucker, who is retiring after 30 years at the school. Tucker taught biology at Mt. Abram until 2000, when she was named principal. Last year, Tucker was named Maine’s top principal by the Maine Principal’s Association.

Stevens is no stranger to Mt. Abram High School. She served as its assistant principal and athletic director prior to her appointment as Kingfield Elementary School’s principal seven years ago.

According to MSAD 58 Superintendent Quenten Clark, Stevens is well qualified for the post.

“She has the experience, is very intelligent and can handle the high school job,” Clark said. “It’s a tougher job than at the elementary, with bigger kids and bigger problems. But she has the work ethic to be successful.”

The school board will next consider who should fill Stevens’ shoes at the elementary school at their next meeting 6:30 p.m. Thursday night at the high school.

  1. I am glad that the District chose to fill the position from within. Brenda Stevens will do a good job. Jean Tucker has been an outstanding member of the Mt Abram High School system for many years and her guidenance has kept many students focused and remaining in School.she deserves much credit for what she has given.

  2. LOL, yeah I can do better. Give me his 50,000 salary and his district truck I wont spend my time eating at local eateries
