NEW SHARON – A sudden, strong blast of wind pulled a portion of the New Sharon Post Office roof off this afternoon.
At 2 p.m. Postmistress Tamara Morgan heard the sound of wind whistling loudly through the building’s siding and thought nothing of it until a customer informed her that part of the roof was lying in the parking lot.
“I saw stuff flying around but I thought it was just the wind blowing leaves and debris,” Morgan said. When she went outside, she saw roof shingles lying on the ground. A suspected microburst, or an intense downward gust of wind that strikes a small area, may have been to blame.
“It (the roof shingles) just pulled off. There’s always wind blowing in all directions here. I didn’t hear it happen. I just went outside and picked it up.”

The title is “Postmaster”, regardless of gender, not “Postmistress”. Just like a female doctor is still doctor, not doctress.
She is a postmaster, there is no such thing as a postmistress in this country.
I was there this morning and I had to write a check for stamps. Tammy said to make it out to “Postmaster.”
Who knew? I would’ve called her a postmistress (and yes, I’m female).
This is sort of similar to selectman for either female or male counterparts.
