Oil not spilled after truck rolls

Industry Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to a rollover involving a full oil tank truck this morning.

INDUSTRY – No oil was spilled after a heating oil truck with a full tank rolled onto its side following a delivery this morning to a home off the Industry Road.

Mt. Blue Oil Co. driver Andrew Berry said he started down the narrow driveway a little after 9 this morning when the wheels of the oil truck sank in the deep snow plowed to the side of the road. As the wheels sunk in, the weight of the full tank of oil caused the truck to tip onto its side.

Berry, who said he was not hurt in the accident, ended up on the passenger side of the cab and, after fumbling for his cell phone, called 911 for help. He was able to climb up and out the driver’s side window before a half dozen Industry Fire and Rescue Department firefighters arrived to help out.

Fire Chief Joe Paradis said none of the tank’s heating oil leaked, but a small amount of oil from the engine spilled so booms were placed around the spill to contain it.

A NorthStar EMS ambulance crew responded, along with Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Brann.

The driver, Andrew Berry of Mt. Blue Oil Co. was not hurt when the truck tipped over onto its side.
