Remembering Capt. Stub Hemingway

FARMINGTON –  A procession of fire trucks from several area departments rode through town in honor of Stub Hemingway, 93, of Farmington who died on Tuesday, Sept. 15, after serving 67 years on the Farmington Fire Department. He was promoted to captain in 1978 and also served as a sheriff’s deputy for 50 years.

The 1931 Maxim antique fire truck carries Stub Hemingway’s casket in a procession held today through town following his memorial services. The line of trucks from several fire departments stopped at the fire station for a ringing of the bells before heading to Fairview Cemetery on Farmington Falls Road.

  1. I will always remember Mr. Hemmingway sitting in his chair jsut inside his garage as I walked by often. He always smiled and waved to me. He will be sadly missed by all the hearts he touched. My deepest condolences to the Hemmingway family.
