Police have arrested Lucas Caron, who they believe is the man breaking into Spruce Mountain Pharmacy in the above picture, after a day-long investigation.

JAY – A Livermore Falls man was arrested yesterday, after being charged with breaking into Spruce Mountain Pharmacy to steal drugs.

Lucas Caron, 19, of Livermore Falls, has been charged with burglary and theft, both Class C felonies, and criminal mischief, a Class D misdemeanor, after police say he admitted to smashing in a window at the pharmacy and taking multiple bottles of Clonazepam, a sedative-hypnotic primarily used as an anti-convulsant and muscle relaxant.

According to Police Chief Larry White, Sr., the crime is believed to have been committed at 4:30 a.m., Monday morning. Video, captured by a camera positioned near the window depicted a young man in an oversized shirt, bearing the words “Morrissey Environmental” on the back, and shorts smashing the window and then opening it and sliding through.

Police were alerted at 6 a.m., after the broken window was discovered. Officer Russell Adams, White and other investigators from the Jay Police Department and Maine State Police gathered evidence at the scene, as well as circulating stills of the video camera footage to local police departments and, later, statewide media organizations. This led to numerous tips that the individual in the pictures was Caron.

At 8 p.m. Adams, who had been working since 6 a.m., was able to locate an address for Caron and brought him to the Jay Police Station. White described Caron as “fully cooperative” and said he admitted to taking the drugs, which were recovered.

Caron was arrested, charged and taken to Franklin County Jail for processing.

  1. He could have saved law enforcement some time by holding up a sign with his name, address and phone # under his face. This has got to rank in the top ten in the really stupid crook competition. I guess he’ll get to hold numbers for front view and profile portraits now.

  2. “…the crime is believed to have been committed at 4:30 a.m”

Gee…. I would make a wild guess that it happened at 04:45. LOL

  3. HAHA Jim, let’s hope that the pharmacy just had their camera clock set 15 minutes fast or else that’s just too darn funny!!!!
