Mt. Blue High School cross country runner Sully Jackson organized a charity run which his team supported by running with him on Friday.

FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue High School Cross Country team joined freshman teammate, Sully Jackson in running with him on Friday for a charity run to benefit Give Kids The World (www.gktw.org).

“Because I could not make it to Florida to participate in the actual race, I decided to set a course and run here in my own area,” Jackson said.

“I have had the privilege of traveling to Walt Disney World and the Orlando area with my family several times. My family has made some great memories there! I know that I am very lucky to be able to take these trips with my family and I look forward to going again.

“I also know that there are many families who are not as fortunate to be able to plan several trips, sometimes a couple years in advance, because unlike my family, they do not have the gift of time. These families have a child with a life threatening illness. Give Kids The World works with wish-granting organizations to provide these families the chance to make some very special memories. I know how important these trips are to my family and I know that for the families of the children with life threatening illnesses, these memories are even more important,” he said.

Jackson would like to thank his fellow team members who ran with him to support him, Coach Kelley Cullenberg and Assistant Coach Brian Kelly for their support and all the friends and family who supported him with pledges which totaled $406.

  1. It’s nice to see that there are young people in our community that are not so self absorbed and not only think of others less fortunate than they are, but DO something about it. Way to go Sully, and everyone else that helped in this event.
