WILTON – Members of Wilton’s Fire and Rescue Department surprised their long-time deputy chief with a plaque Thursday evening, commemorating nearly five decades of public service.

Deputy Chief Kendall Burdin received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Chief Sonny Dunham and other members of the department at a small ceremony. Burdin has spent 47 years, in the Wilton, Strong and Phillips departments, fighting fires, responding to accidents and serving the citizens of Franklin County.

The award celebrates Burdin’s “loyalty, compassion and friendship.”

“Your lifetime commitment will serve as an ongoing inspiration to all of us (always),” it reads.
