WILTON – The Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine (SAM) has awarded its highest grade of “A” to the Legislative Candidacy of Irv Faunce of Wilton.
Faunce, a Wilton selectman who, with his wife Jan Collins, owns and operates the Wilton Blueberry Farm, is a candidate in the Nov. 2 election for State House of Representatives, District 90 (Wilton, Avon, Temple, Phillips, New Vineyard and Strong).
The rating of his candidacy was done based on Faunce’s response to a lengthy SAM questionnaire that focused on issues important to the 14,000 SAM members statewide – wildlife resources, field sports and conservation programs.
“We are stewards of 100 acres of prime Maine land and we value sharing this resource with responsible sportsmen such as hunters and snowmobilers,” Faunce said.
“Like SAM, we also place a high priority on natural resource conservation, so I am pleased to have their support of my candidacy.”
This marks the third statewide organization to show support for Faunce. His candidacy has also been endorsed by the Maine State Employees Association, and by the Maine AFL-CIO, groups representing nearly 60,000 working men and women of Maine.
This IS NOT TRUE The Endorsement went to Russell Black not Irv.
It is disengenuous for Irv Faunce that the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine “showed support” for his candidacy.
The Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine did not endorse Irv Faunce. It gave him a grade for answering the SAM PAC Survey for Maine Legislative Candidates. http://www.sportsmansalliance.com/Legislature/SAMPACLegislativeSurvey/tabid/193/Default.aspx
I am disappointed in Mr. Faunce outright distortion of his SAM ranking . Yes he did get an “A” ranking. But he did not get their “SUPPORT”. Russell Black got their support and an “A” ranking. It is unusual for SAM to endorse in an open seat. They did in this case because of M. Black’s work with the sportsman of Maine.
