FARMINGTON – Jessica Berry is pleased to announce her candidacy for a seat on the Farmington Board of Selectmen. A lifelong resident of Western Maine, Jessica set roots in the community pursuing a degree in political science at the University of Maine at Farmington.

After obtaining a Master’s degree in special education and working for several years in the field, she returned to Farmington five years ago to work at UMF’s Upward Bound Program, a federally-funded program focused on helping low-income high school students become first-generation college students. Jessica said, “My work as the program’s coordinator of student services is especially rewarding because it allows me to get to know families within the community and understand the struggles they are facing, while at the same time providing students and families opportunities to further their education and experiences.”

Jessica grew up in a family where serving the community was a part of “being a Berry,” with family serving on everything from the school board to the state legislature. “Especially in these trying times,” she said, “I continue to believe in the value of service to one’s community. I will strive to maintain the quality of public services and infrastructure in the way that is most fiscally responsible for the town and its future. I look forward to connecting with voters in the coming weeks prior to the elections, and can be reached at jessberry18@gmail.com or 779-6672.”

Elections for the Farmington Board of Selectmen will be held on Friday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Community Center on Middle Street.
