STRONG – On this sunny, warm evening, the town turned out for annual Pierpole Days Festival parade with a parade, a chicken BBQ, lobster and steak dinners, and a live band tonight.

The Old Crow band, floats, horses, fire engines and politicians marched down Main Street in celebration of Strong’s heritage and its Abenaki settlers. Chief among them, Pierpole and his wife, Hannah Sussup, two of the early residents of Strong. The parade also featured Civil War’s Alabama 15th Regiment’s Co. G that gave a musket salute to veterans of all conflicts at the town’s center.

The SS Back to Basics float sails along with all the comforts of home. The parade’s theme was Back to Basics which the Sandy River Cash Fuel brought to life for the Strong Pierpole Days Festival parade.
