FARMINGTON – The Franklin Memorial Hospital (FMH) Auxiliary recently held its annual dinner meeting, which included committee reports, the installation of officers, a president’s update, and the presentation of a gift to Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Auxiliary President Shannon Smith presented Rebecca Ryder, Franklin Memorial Hospital president, with the gift of $20,000 with half to be used for office equipment for Franklin Health Farmington Family Practice and half for capital equipment purchases for Franklin Memorial Hospital.

“The FMH Auxiliary is a vibrant and active organization that has grown to more than 150 members,” said Smith. “The Auxiliary plans many annual activities and special events that raise thousands of dollars each year to support Franklin Memorial Hospital.”

Tom Hagerstrom, director of development and the staff liaison to the Auxiliary, installed the following officers: Shannon Smith, president; Les Gatchell, vice president; Lois Smith, secretary; Judy Farrington, treasurer; and Betty Levesque, assistant treasurer.

Entertainment was provided at the close of the meeting by Bing and Nancy Crosby.

The hospital’s gift shop is the Auxiliary’s major fundraiser in its mission to provide financial support by purchasing equipment that the hospital would like to have – but cannot fit into its budget. The Auxiliary also raises money by way of membership dues, raffles, Bag Ali sales, memorial stones, garden tours, teas, dances, food and book sales, special events, and the Remembrance Tree during the holidays.

New Auxiliary members are always welcome. Contact Shannon Smith at 778-4726 or e-mail scsmith@beeline-online.net.
