WILTON – One man was injured and another killed Saturday evening, after the vehicle they were in rolled over on Route 4.

According to the Wilton Police Department, Jeffrey Burgess, 25, of Dixfield, was pronounced dead after being taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital. Another occupant of the vehicle, Adam Turner, 27, was also taken to the hospital and was later transfered to Central Maine Medical Center. A representative of that hospital listed his condition as “stable” Sunday evening.

A third man, Zachary Metivier, 25, was also in the vehicle but required no treatment.

The three men were believed to be eastbound on Route 4, near the merging of Route 2 and 4, when the F-250 Ford pickup they were in went off the road. The truck rolled over while going down the embankment, coming to rest after hitting some trees.

Police believe that the truck was attempting to pass a red sedan when the accident occurred. The identity of the driver of the truck has not been released.

Wilton Police were assisted at the scene by officers from Farmington, Jay and Dixfield, as well as the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. Maine State Police will assist the Wilton Police Department with the investigation, as is standard for serious vehicle crashes.
